Consultation Document: Proposal for Liscard Primary School to Become an Academy and Join the Peninsula Multi-Academy Trust (MAT)
In June, we informed you of the Governing Body’s intention to consult regarding the possibility of Liscard Primary School joining the Peninsula Multi Academy Trust with Weatherhead and St George's Primary School. This would be a significant and important step for our school.
Parent and carer feedback is an important aspect of our decision-making.
Introduction
Liscard Primary School is considering converting to academy status and joining the Peninsula Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). This document outlines the proposal, the reasons for considering this change, and how it will affect our school community. We invite stakeholders to provide feedback during this consultation process.
What is an academy?
An academy is an independently managed state-funded school. Becoming an academy means greater autonomy over finances, curriculum, and resources while being part of a supportive MAT like Peninsula MAT.
Why are we considering this change?
Joining Peninsula MAT offers:
Improved resources: Access to additional funding and expertise.
Collaboration: Opportunities to work closely with other schools in the trust to share best practices.
Curriculum freedom: Greater flexibility to tailor teaching to meet our pupils' needs.
Leadership support: Enhanced training and development opportunities for staff.
What will stay the same?
Admissions
No changes to the admissions process.
Staff employment terms and conditions
Staff will transfer under the same employment terms (TUPE regulations).
School ethos
Our core values and mission will remain unchanged.
Potential benefits for our pupils
Access to a broader curriculum and enrichment opportunities.
Improved teaching quality through shared expertise.
Enhanced resources and facilities from MAT-wide investments.
How will the process work?
Consultation Period: From 3rd September to 3rd October.
Engagement Events: Stakeholder meetings for parents, staff, and the community.
Decision-Making: Governors will review feedback before making a final decision.
Your input matters
We welcome your views and questions. Please share your feedback by:

Next Steps
After the consultation, governors will consider all responses and decide whether to proceed. The outcome will be communicated by October 15th 2025.
Thank you for your support and engagement as we explore this opportunity for our school.
