Personal Development

At Liscard Primary School, we value each child as an individual with a unique potential for learning. Our aim is to enable each child to participate fully in current and future society as a responsible, self-confident citizen thus reducing the cultural capital gap.

We promote the academic, spiritual, moral, cultural, mental, technical and physical qualities of all pupils.

We believe that an effective curriculum offers knowledge, skills and understanding. Our curriculum is designed with these principles in mind: it is personalised, reflecting the background and experience of our pupils; it is outward facing, setting learning in global contexts wherever possible; it celebrates diversity to emphasise unity; it is rooted in authenticity and context so that learning is relevant.  We define curriculum as the totality of a child’s experience at Liscard Primary School. This includes not only what but also how the child learns.

Personal development is both an aspect and a school ethos. It is reflected in our school motto of

Dream Believe - Achieve

and in our school values. We aim for all children to rise above the ordinary by developing learners who can transform lives and communities.

Our mission statement encapsulates our approaches to learning:-

Our aim is to teach children how to navigate through life safely, happily and healthily. Children are growing up in a world that is constantly changing and it is the duty of all the staff at school in partnership with the parents teach the children transferable life skills. We teach children about the world around them, relationships, emotions, reproduction and health, as well as transferable skills to help with life. We consistently promote the British values and our school values.
