Lots to celebrate!
20th September 2019
There are often things to celebrate here at Liscard Primary School.
We are exceptionally delighted with our most recent awards which help highlight all the wonderful things that pupils and staff achieve here, with the support of our parents/carers and extended families.
Please take a few minutes of your time to view our presentation and video (see links at the bottom of this page).
We are officially a School of Sanctuary!
This means we are recognised as a safe and welcome place for all, including refugees and asylum seekers. We have worked incredibly hard as a school to broaden our knowledge and understanding about refugees. In July 2019, we presented to the Mayor and Mayoress to showcase all of the fabulous work we have done. The children were, as ever, amazing and we are very proud to now be recognised as a place of safety for all!
We welcome and enjoy getting to know individuals from all over the world.
RE Quality Mark Gold Award
We have been awarded an RE Quality Mark (REQM) Gold Award for embedding excellent, creative and innovative Religious Education practice throughout the school and for recognition as outstanding in the wider community. The REQM recognises high quality RE, particularly those schools which are providing their learners with authentic experiences and contributing to whole school outcomes.
RE makes a powerful contribution to young people’s learning. It provides them with the chance to explore the big ideas of religion and belief and to think about what matters in their own lives.
National SMSC Gold Quality Mark
We have also been awarded the National SMSC, Gold Quality Mark in recognition of the provision of pupil’s social, moral, spiritual and cultural development, in preparation for life in modern Britain.
Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development is the over-arching umbrella that encompasses personal development across the whole curriculum. Ofsted puts SMSC ‘at the heart’ of school development. It requires schools to think about the kind of people we aspire to be, the kind of world we aspire to create, and the kind of education we aspire to provide.
Green Flag Award
We are also proud to announce that our Green Flag can continue to wave in the wind!
Our Eco-team have worked exceptionally hard to achieve the highest Green flag award for being an Eco school. We have all contributed in achieving this award, tasks including recycling, litter picking and reducing our use of single use plastics in school.
Platinum School Games Mark Award
We are delighted to be recognised for maintaining consistently high standards in sports provision. Liscard Primary School has received this award for making a commitment to develop its pupils to be the best they can be in competitive school sport.
The Award's aim is to reward schools for a commitment to the development of competition across schools and into the community. Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision, grading them either bronze, silver or gold, and assists schools in developing an action plan for future progress. The Platinum Award is the highest level of the award scheme, introduced to celebrate schools who have shown consistently high-levels of enthusiasm and commitment to school sport. Applications are only open to those schools who achieved five successive gold awards.
To achieve the gold award a school must meet a certain set of criteria, which includes engaging a high percentage of young people in both curricular and extracurricular activities, participating in a minimum number of competitions across different sports, and reaching out to target groups including young leaders, volunteers, and those previously identified as the school’s least-active pupils.
We are incredibly proud of all we achieve here at Liscard Primary School and awards like those above are gratefully accepted on behalf of all at the School. Well done everyone!
