Unicef Balloon Release
2nd December 2014
On Friday 28th November 2014 children at Liscard Primary School took part in a balloon release to mark the 25th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The children have been learning about Unicef and Children's Rights. The balloon release was a way to spread information about children's rights to our local community. To do this each child (in Years 1 to 6) completed a speech bubble that outlined the Right (or “Article”) they had chosen from the 42 Rights listed on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The children wrote about why they had chosen to share this Article and why it was important to them. Each speech bubble was then placed inside a balloon and inflated.
On Friday we launched over 600 balloons and each balloon contained a speech bubble. The children really enjoyed taking part in this event and helping to spread information about children’s rights.
